A Little Dive into the Process
As a startup in an uncharted space, we didn’t follow the typical UX playbook of user interviews, personas, and pre-launch testing. Instead, we began with internal brainstorming, then moved into designing wireframes, finalizing the design system, and creating UI screens before building our first prototype. We marketed through early-adopter stores, onboarded our first batch of customers, and collected feedback from real-world usage. Based on their inputs, we iterated fast and improved the product on the go. This design-led, feedback-driven approach helped us refine the product and deliver meaningful value from the start
Conclusion
Since launching, Zeev has successfully onboarded 268,000 users, with our loyalty program creating tangible benefits for both consumers and retailers. We introduced a small monthly subscription for a limited group of users, who adopted it without hesitation, validating our value proposition.
Beyond app features, we implemented creative strategies to retain and attract new users. This included billboards, in-store marketing materials, and customized print receipts that effectively communicated Zeev’s value. We also maintained engagement through strategic WhatsApp communications, keeping users in the loop even when they were not actively using the app.
Our referral system played a critical role in driving growth. By offering exclusive vouchers for referrals, allowing users to gift vouchers to friends, and reminding users to onboard friends during key app interactions, we encouraged organic growth and loyalty.
With these collective efforts, Zeev has secured its position as a leading grocery shopping solution within Kerala, with strong potential to expand further and establish a significant market share among competitors.
